Fancy That, Fancy This!

Fancy That is the cute, little, well, not actually little but you almost have to say 'little' when you say 'cute cafe'! It's a cute, little cafe in downtown Norman, OK! They serve yummy casseroles like Poppyseed Chicken, and King Ranch Chicken, make soups from scratch, the best is the Roasted Red Pepper Soup, and have amazing baked goods. FT is kind of known around Norman for their sugar cookies, but if you ever decided to off yourself with brownies, make it the Chocolate Sass brownie! The sugar cookies are off the charts! They can do almost any shape or color imaginable and many times small children have been overheard saying, "I can't eat it Mommy, it's too pretty!" I work there mostly in the colder months when I can't be out gardening for a living, therefore I get to create TONS of sugar cookies for the madness that is Christmas.

What else is so great about Fancy That? Well, my art hangs there! The entire West wall is covered with my fun, silly paintings of children, pets and flowers and along the upper walls are my giant oil paintings. When looking across the entire collection of paintings many people assume it is from several, different artists, but no, it's just me- the many layers of Marcy. There are my favorites 'the blues guys', the 'bar series', inspired by my college bartending days, and then there's the 'lovers', you can guess what they depict, ooh la la. So if your ever in town please check out Fancy That. Heck, if you're coming for an OU game, call ahead and order up some OU sugar cookies, tell 'em Marcy sent you! http://www.fancythat.us/

Medieval inspirations

This past weekend was the Medieval Fair and let me say this first, it was the most beautiful weather EVER for the Fair! It's one of those weird things, it always rains that weekend, which in some part helped set the tone for the whole event but aah, the sunshine was grand! If you're from around these parts hope you made it out. I saw so many inspiring crafts and jewelry. I wanted to run around and tell them all to get on Etsy, but I wasn't prepared. The booth that stands out most in my memory had the most clever name, how could ye forget 'Damsel in this Dress'? They made some of the most gorgeous bodices, vests, jackets I've seen at a Fair. The construction was amazing and the selection of fabrics was....wow. OK, I'm new to this blog thing, but I think this is where I'm supposed to put a link to her blog?

i miss maui

It was supposed to storm today...

but it hasn't yet! On a typical 70 degree Spring day I would be out gardening (my 'day job'), but I kept hearing, 'it's going to storm really bad on Thursday' so I made an appointment with myself to get this blog thing started. It hasn't stormed yet, so I feel a tad bit guilty sitting here in the library and not getting out there and gardening, a tad I said, a tad bit.

still learning...

hmmmm...
